Club Sports Council

Club Sport Council

The Club Sport Council is an essential component of the Club Sports Program. The Council helps to provide an environment where club sports officers can voice their concerns and receive assistance with solving issues related to their club, as well as gain a sense of leadership through involvement in the larger structure of the Club Sport Program.

Goals and Objectives

  1. Review new Club Sport membership applications.

  1. Review Club Sport policies and procedures on a yearly basis and make recommendations for changes.

  1. Create disciplinary guidelines for Club Sports when necessary.

  1. Serve as liaisons between the Club Sports Administration and their respective Clubs.

Membership

The Club Sports Council will be made up of (5) members who represent all Club Sports teams. All members must be in good standing with the university and the Club Sports Office. Members of the Council must include no more than (1) a representative from any given sport, regardless of sport gender. In addition, at least (2) Council members will be representatives from field sports, and at least (2) Council members will be representatives from alternate sports.

Election Process

All applicants for positions on the Club Sports Council must be returning Club Sports participants in good standing from the previous academic year. Applications must be submitted by the announced deadline in spring semester prior to the academic year which the applicant is applying for. Eligible applicants may receive an interview with the Club Sports Office, after which a final decision will be made. The Club Sports Office will make a collaborative decision on choosing the (5) members of the Council.

A sixth member will be chosen to act as a standby member of the council. If a Council member cannot fulfill their role for any reason (i.e. study abroad, internship), the standby member that has been chosen by the Club Sports Office will fill in for the semester or meetings and be an active voter where necessary.

The Club Sports Office holds the right to replace any Council member at any time if they are not properly fulfilling their duties.

Meetings

The Club Sports Council will have at least (2) meetings per semester with the Club Sports Office. Attendance at these meetings will be mandatory for all Council members and the Office.

The purpose of these meetings will be to give the entire Club Sports program, through the Council, a voice to be heard by the Office. In addition, Club Sports will be able to pass information down to the entire program through the Council.

The Council will also be required to hold a minimum of (1) town hall meeting per semester for any Club Sports officer to attend for the purpose of disseminating information, listening to concerns, helping fix problems, provide advice, gathering feedback, encouraging interaction and participation, etc.
